Screenplay Semi Finalist Honor for Betty and Mary: Neighbors

Betty and Mary: Neighbors, the second installment in the Betty and Mary trilogy, has been named a Semi Finalist for its screenplay at Indie Short Fest. Written by Dana Lyn Baron, the script stood out in the festival’s competitive monthly lineup, which recognizes excellence in short form screenwriting.
About the Screenplay
It's a bold next chapter: two dysfunctional strippers, one jaded and one guilt-ridden, find themselves on the run after murdering their sleazeball boss and blowing up their workplace. As they attempt to lay low, they are confronted by a mysterious new neighbor with wings whose intentions are unclear...
From the Judges:
A witty, eccentric comedy that reimagines middle-aged friendship through noir-tinged absurdity. “Betty & Mary, Neighbors” is bursting with character energy—smart, fast, and unapologetically weird. Its dark humor and stylized dialogue evoke Coen-brothers timing with an indie-stage sensibility. A little tonal tightening could amplify the emotional pay-off, but it’s memorably sharp.
“Betty & Mary, Neighbors” is bursting with character energy—smart, fast, and unapologetically weird.
Comparable to: Fargo, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Thelma & Louise (meets Lynch).
Nomination Potential: Strong contender for Best Comedy Short Script.
